The Olympic Games are a great international sports contest. This is a quadrennial international sports competition. The modern games derived from the ancient Greek athletic festival held at the foot of Mount Olympus, believed to be the home of the Greek gods, in 776 B.C, to honour the Greek\'s head god, Zeus. In 339 A. D. the games were banned by Theodosius the Great. Later, the games were revived at Athens in 1896 largely through the efforts of Baran Pierre de Coubertine.
In 1916 and 1940 Olympic Games could not be held due to the First and Second World Wars. The games are now governed by the International Olympic Committee.
